Welcome!

If you have photos of your Collings
Clarence White guitar, I would like to include them on the web site as well as list
your guitars data. Please
contact me
and I'll let you know what information I publish on the web site. |
**Hints on using this web site: As on other WWW
sites, if you click on an image with a hyper-linked image (you'll see a border around the
image), a larger, more detailed image will appear. The thumbnail images on this
site are, for the most part, low resolution images and are relatively small in
file size (ranging from 30k to 60k). The larger hyperlinked
images, on the other hand, have more detail (16 million colors) and are MUCH larger files ranging from
400k to 800k and up) and therefore take more time to load. Please be patient. I
believe the details of the guitars are worth the wait.
|
This site is best viewed in at least 800x600 resolution with 16
million colors (32k colors is the min). 1024x768 is better and 1280x1024 is
better still... I'm sure you
get the idea... <g>

Tony Rice at
Merlefest 1997 with Clarence White's D-28.
Here's Bill Collings in his shop holding a sunburst D-2H. This
photo originally appeared in the Flatpicking Guitar Magazine article on Collings
Guitars (Dan Miller took the photo). The guitar in the background up on the wall is my
former CW-28 (2145)! It's famous!!

- I've noticed that photos of guitars from the "Unofficial
Collings Clarence White" web site
are magically starting to appear on eBay. Most have been from Indonesia. As of
this writing, none of the guitars of this site live in Malaysia or Indonesia.
Don't buy something like this from eBay unless you can speak to the person on
the phone and know 100% that it is NOT a fraudulent auction.
Please contact me if you have any questions on whether an auction is valid or
not. -

- CW-28 #919 is finally available
for your drooling pleasure. Not only does it have a beautiful sunburst top,
but the Brazilian Rosewood is stunning.
- CW-28 #508 holds a significant place in
the history of Louisiana's Cajun music because the former owner was the late,
Dr. Tommy Comeaux.
- CW-28 #300 is absolutely
stunning! It has custom made gold Kluson tuners with gold Waverly buttons.
- 2/4/2007 - I have 3 or 4 classic Collings Clarence White guitars to add to
the web site. I apologize to the owners for not having the guitars on the site
sooner. I'll hopefully have them up in the next month or so.
- As some of you may or may not know that the last
Collings "Clarence White" guitar built by Collings was constructed in April of
2000. It is a 12-fret CW-28 made from John Holman's dark wood. It is serial
number 5450 and was built in April of 2000.
- In case you haven't heard, Collings is now making the second generation CW
guitars, which are now known as the "Collings Winfield" (CW). Mahogany/Red
Spruce (18) and Brazilian/Red Spruce (28) models are available. They will be
available through your local Collings dealers. I will not be tracking Collings
Winfield guitars on this web site, only the original Collings "Clarence White"
guitars.
- Concerning For Sale Stuff - Check out the new "Stuff
For Sale" page. I'm happy to assist CW owners sell their instrument.
Contact
me for details. If you're more comfortable selling through a store I
recommend my friend
Kim Sherman at
Cotten Music. She has done a great job assisting many
folks place their guitars in a new home. If you are interested in purchasing a
classic Collings Clarence White, please contact me and I'll put you on the
"want one" list and put you in touch when someone contacted me looking to sell
their CW. Thanks - David
